An interesting read from The Social Graf – ‘In Egypt, Revolution is a Media Mashup’.
The events in Egypt last week have been monumental and are set to change the political and social landscape of the Middle East. These events have also been widely discussed within the marketing and social media circles, as this article outlines. In fact one of my early tweets covering the news was BBC’s comments on how “instrumental” social media was in achieving this revolution.
In summary this article talks about the “cumulative” effect of social media and how it compliments and reinforces the different media channels. Eric Sass says “indeed, the real story is the way broadcast and digital media are working together.”
This same idea is easily applied to B2B Marketing – the different marketing channels such as direct mail, email, sales and social media all need to work together to create a real success story! A reminder to us all that integration is key to the success of a campaign – be it political or otherwise.
